A preliminary analysis and design intuition lead us to conclude that the building would not be a pure example of either architecture or landscape, but rather a product of the combined action of the two "forces". The challenge for the architecture is to be seamlessly incorporated into the larger landscape context of the park, but to also become a recognizable landmark in the area - as per the wishes of the client. The architecture we create here must be sensitive and friendly to the existing environment, and should show respect to the surroundings in terms of its ultimate size and form. The local residents are indeed fortunate that such a wide public green space on the waterfront is available. Upon first setting foot on the site, we were impressed by the fact that there are no tall buildings in the surrounding area - even the financial island complex across the water is not excessively large. Taken together with the surrounding public spaces, the Center will provide the city with a waterfront area rich with vitality – and will allow visitors to climb up andenjoy an overallview of the new development, engage with each other, andtruly make their waterfront experience a memorable one. Its program will allow for easy access to works of art of the highest excellence, as well hosting lively and engaging activities for all visitors. The ecology ideas is to reserve water when dry, and drain when flooded. As an important component of Zhengdong New District’s public amenities, the Dragon Lake Public Art Center will be used to showcase urban planning initiatives and exhibitions in the short term, and as a public art center in the long run. All stormwater runoff toward the Lake passes through dry pebble beds, rain gardens, and prefabricated modular storage facilities.

The park constructs a sponge base, uses a series of rain gardens and an ecological drainage system to conserve water. On weekends, the park is very popular and surrounding carpark is hard to find. The renovation was completed at the end of 2017. The elements of Jiangmen context and the theme of bird' paradise run through the landscape: the wedding pavilion, the fan palm sculpture, the sculptures of birds and feathers, the bird's cage slides, etc. The entire project is a 24-hour open public park. This zone includes the center axis, zen garden, and wedding lawn. The central Energize Zone includes fitness area, chess court, and a huge children play area. The western Ecological Zone includes a celebration party lawn, a rain garden, and a resting area. The project is divided into three functional zones and connected by the greenway network.

The main purpose of the landscape renovation is to provide the surrounding citizens with a new type of ecological park integrating recreation, leisure and fitness. There is only one jogging trail and sparse planting. The original Dragon Creek Park is an ordinary lakeside green belt. Inspired by Bird’s Paradise, landscape design captures the flying movement of birds, creating a new paradise for citizens. The island is well protected and becomes habitats for more than 40 species of birds. The dragon Creek park is the first important node, playing an important role for future residential areas, office areas and the city's entire ecosystem park network.īird's Paradise in Jiangmen is a well-known prose written by Chinese author Mr Ba Jin, it introduces an island that is dominated by one huge banyan tree. It is abut the dragon creak lake and connects to the green corridor park. However, with the establishment of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Jiangmen will become the next hot spot for development.ĬFLD Jiangmen Dragon Creek Park is located on the end of the central green corridor of Jianghai New Tech District. After 1980, Jiangmen's development is not as fast as adjacent cities in the Pearl River Delta, such as Shenzhen and Zhuhai. Liang Qichao, Chen Baisha, Feng Ru, Liang Sicheng and other celebrities were born here, and they continued to absorb foreign cultures and influenced the world at the same time. Also Jiangmen has a profound historical and humanistic spirit. Jiangmen Wuyi (5 towns: Xinhui, Taishan, Heshan, Kaiping, and Enping) is the largest overseas Chinese hometown in Guangdong.
